Yosemite (It's been a while)...

This post is nothing but belated.  We've just shared a ride with a guy called Matt Farrell, who drove us from Yosemite itself to Bend, Portland.  It took 12 hours all in all, including food and bladder stops and like all road trips so far throughout the West, covered some beautiful and big country.

Half Dome from Glacier Point

Yosemite was awesome, way bigger and more dramatic than I anticipated and just yeah..awesome.  You don't even have to be a climber to enjoy the place.  There are lots of trails, woodlands and waterfalls to explore and of course Half Dome and El Capitan to stare at.  We stayed at the infamous and only walk in camp site (Camp 4), home to the classic Midnight Lightning (which of course Steve dispatched) where we bumped into fellow 'Bangorian' Rich Bennett and his friend from Portsmouth Phil Belcher.

We climbed some classic routes, all on superb rock and all hosting some of the best views I've seen from a crag.  The Royal Arches, After Six, Serenity Crack, Marginal, Goodrich Pinnacle are just a few and were all outstanding and I got my first big route done (16 Pitches) and what a place to do so.  I'd love to go back, but better equipped and in better trad shape, so here's to the next few weeks in Smith.  We intend to get lots of mileage in and then head to Squamish to smash the big walls.  As for now, im a little drunk, full of food and ready to crash on Matt's sofa.  Bed's a callin!
